Edwin’s upcoming meeting with developer Jake Palillo, regarding the proposed Waterside development (formerly Lagoona Bay Beach Club), is a critical engagement that demonstrates his commitment to understanding all facets of this project. Waterside, with its vision of a high-end residential community featuring a private lagoon, and possibly boutique hotel, and cottage-style homes, has sparked concerns among residents about potential traffic congestion and the substantial water resources needed for the lagoon.  The removal of the retail means taxes back to the town will be lower than when the project included businesses too. Given that newly elected Town commissioners will likely cast the deciding votes on this development, it’s vital for Edwin, along with other candidates, to be well-informed and attuned to both the aspirations of the developer, the Town staff’s opinions and directions, and the concerns of the community. This proactive approach emphasizes Edwin’s dedication to making decisions that best serve the interests and well-being of the residents of Huntersville.
